LOTS TO LOOK FORWARD TO
Boardsmill Sires are well represented at the upcoming Tattersalls
November National Hunt Sale.
Kalanisi is represented by 9 yearlings (8 geldings and 1
filly), 14 foals (10 colts and 4 fillies) and 3 older
horses (2 fillies and 1 gelding) whilst there are also 2
mares carrying in foal to the Grade 1 sire.
Kalanisis first Boardsmill crop are still only 5yos
and he has been enjoying a real purple patch of late with his progeny
on the racecourse. Recent bumper winners have included Run Fly Run
(WP Mullins), Mr Steadfast (Gordon Elliott), Black Zambezi (Colm
Murphy), Alphabet Bay (Warren Greatrex), Callaghy Beauty (Gordon
Elliott) and Professor Plum (Rose Dobbin). Over hurdles his first
Boardsmill runners have proved equally impressive. The winning Grade
3 placed mare Storm Away and the Charlie Longsdon trained Kalane
are two such recent winners.
Buyers who are looking for fillies should take note of Kalanisis
high percentage of winning fillies and bear in mind he already has
sired Stakes Fillies on the flat, over hurdles and over fences.
Having covered 150 mares in each of his first 4 seasons at Boardsmill
and with his current crop of 3 year olds being of the highest quality
of those crops- Kalanisi is not going to be short of representatives
on the racetrack over the coming years. This is the year to invest
in his yearlings and foals!
Court Cave is represented by 7 yearlings (5 geldings and
2 fillies), 26 foals (16 colts and 10 fillies), 1 older
filly and there are 3 mares carrying in foal to the son
of Sadlers Wells.
Court Cave is proving as popular as ever with trainers in the sales
ring. There were some notable pin-hooking successes this past year
for consignors of progeny by Court Cave including horses realising
£90k (cost €19k), £60k (cost €18k), €48k
(cost €6k), €47k (cost €12k), €46k (cost €8,800)
The success of his progeny on the track to date is all the more
notable given that his crops of racing age range in size from only
17 foals to 58 foals and with much bigger crops aged 3 and younger
to come on stream- his reputation is surely going to rise further
in the next 2 or 3 years. All the more reason to be investing in
Court Cave stock this coming sales season!
The new kid on the Boardsmill Roster is CALIFET and he covered over
150 mares in his first season here and there are 5 opportunities
to purchase a mare carrying in foal to this popular sire.
Califet has enjoyed his most successful season to date with his
progeny on the racetrack and with his current crop of 3 year olds
(83) being his biggest crop in France- there is a lot to look forward
to over the coming years. He has already sired 13 3yo winners and
has of course got high class 4yos Clarcam, Analifet and Calipto
to look forward to this season.
Califet had three 3 year olds offered for sale at the UK and IRE
store sales this year and they proved very popular averaging €48k.
Buyers included Tom Malone Bloodstock (for Paul Nicholls), Highflyer
Bloodstock (Warren Greatrex) and Brendan Bashford.
