Kalanisi chasing success
Kalanisis impressive strike rate of winning chasers continued
on Sunday 7th October at Uttoxeter with the chasing debut success
of the towering mare Valmari. The Airlie Stud bred mare made every
yard of the running and jumped from fence to fence and showed good
resolve up the home straightwhen challenged for the lead by the
Nigel Twiston Davies trained useful hurdler Ackertac.
Having previously just raced on the flat (winning 5 times), this
1st crop daughter of Kalanisi raced 3 times over hurdles last season,
winning on her debut and was also placed. She is trained by Tom
Symonds (thomassymonds.co.uk) who is in just his 2nd season as a
fully-fledged trainer and he seems to have a nice chasing recruit
on his hands here.
Kalanisi is now the sire of 50% winners to runners over fences
to date i.e. 5 winners from 10 runners and with two of the five
non winners recently placed, this % looks sure to improve in the
not too distant future.
Other recent winners under rules for Kalanisi included the welcome
returns from layoff of both Simarian and Kalmonto. The Evan Williams
trained Simarian returned from a 16 month layoff to record two wins
over hurdles within a week. Raised 17lbs for both successes to a
mark of 135, a return to chasing looks likely. Hopefully his talented
horse can stay sound and win a big pot this season over the larger
Also returning from injury was the Yannick Fouin trained Kalmonto
who made an impressive winning reappearance over hurdles at Auteuil
on September 26th. This 6yo was winning for the 3 rd time under
rules having previously won twice over fences and a return to chasing
looks on the cards also. He has now won over €77,000 in prizemoney.
