Boardsmill Stud Yearling & Foal Consignment for Tatts November NH Sale

Boardsmill Stud has a small but select draft for this year’s Tattersalls November National Hunt Sale.

Yearlings - Sunday November 7th

Boardsmill’s sole yearling representative is Lot 189 a gelding by resident sire Court Cave, who has made a great start at stud. Out of Freya Alex, a winner on the flat and over hurdles, this gelding is a very athletic type with a good walk. His 3yo full sister has been recently named and is going into training with Gordon Elliott.

Court Cave has made a tremendous start to his stud career with his first runners. One of his 1st runners was the black type performer ‘Whodoyouthink’, who won 2 hurdle races last season and finished 4th to Dunguib in the Grade 1 Deloitte Hurdle. Also sire of debut bumper winner ‘Champion Court’ who subsequently realised £130,000 at Doncaster Sales. Court Cave’s stores were very much in demand this year also, and his 4 offerings at Goffs Land Rover Sale in June sold for an average of almost €20,000. This was the 3rd highest average for Living Irish Based Sires, behind only Presenting and King’s Theatre.

Court Cave only has 2 yearlings and one foal catalogued in this sale, so there won’t be too many opportunities this winter to buy progeny by one of the most talked about up and coming National Hunt Sires at the moment.

Foals - Tuesday 9th November

Lot 741 is a colt foal by Stowaway ex Diminished. One of only 6 colts by Stowaway in this sale, this June born foal is very well developed for his age. He has loads of bone and substance and looks sure to develop into a real nice older horse. His sire Stowaway, has made a real big impression as a sire with relatively few runners on the track. His flag bearer last year was the Grade 2 hurdle winner ‘Western Leader’ and he has an exciting prospect this year in dual winner ‘Hidden Cyclone’ also trained by John ‘Shark’ Hanlon. This foal’s dam has bred a winner from her only runner to date and she is a half sister to the high class Willie Mullins’ trained chaser ‘Scotsirish’.

Lot 742 is a filly foal by Kalanisi ex Iktitaf’s Sister. This filly is the first foal out of a half sister to high class Grade 1 winning hurdler ‘Iktitaf’. For a first foal, she has loads of size and given her pedigree she looks a nice dual purpose prospect for the future. By the high class dual purpose sire ‘Kalanisi’ who has enjoyed another tremendous season under both codes. Kalanisi is one of the rare sires who produces high class horses of both sex, and has a proven track record with his fillies. He has sired stakes winning fillies on the flat in ‘Hasanka’, ‘Enforce’ and ‘Sindirana’ and also Royal Ascot winning filly ‘Missoula’. Over jumps from relatively few runners, he has sired the David Pipe trained mare ‘Sure Josie Sure’ who won a bumper and three hurdles last season. Pipe has described Sure Josie Sure as ‘a big gutsy mare, with a heart to match. She’s got easily enough size for fences’. Other jumps winning mares include Spring Dream, Enforce and Missoula.
