Breeze-Up Sales Topper by KALANISI

A 3 year old gelding by Kalanisi topped the DBS National Hunt Breeze Up Sales held at Kempton Park on Friday 4th December. Selling for £70,000, the handsome gelding was purchased by Bloodstock Agent Gerry Hogan, who was acting for Nick Mustoe. The gelding impressed in his morning workout and will go into training with Emma Lavelle, who trains a number of horses for Mustoe.

The gelding is a half brother to Grade 1 winner Glencove Marina and was offered by Eugene McDermotts’ Kennycourt Stud. McDermott had purchased the gelding at Goffs Land Rover Sale in June from breeder Mrs Elizabeth Murphy.

Hogan commented "Emma loved him and he looks a tailor made bumper horse and hopefully he should be ready to run in January or February."

Elsewhere over the same weekend, there were some choice fillies by Kalanisi for sale at Arqana Sale in Deauville and they too proved very popular.

Zanora, a dual winning filly on the flat, was offered by the Aga Khan Studs in foal to Halling. She was purchased by Mandore International for €52,000

Sweet & Sour, a 4 time winning, listed placed 4 year old realised €42,000 when purchased by Hubert Guy.

On the same day, Morar, a 3 year old Kalanisi filly was purchased by Highflyer Bloodstock for €32,000. Winner of 2 races in 2009, the progressive Morar is a half sister to four winners including the dam of Willies Mullins’ dual bumper winner of 2009 ‘Blackstairsmountain’.
