Kalanisi was one of most popular sires at this year’s Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale. Foals from his 1st Boardsmill crop sold for up to €32,000. Kalanisi finished the sale as the 3rd leading active Irish Sire with an average bettered only by Presenting and Flemensfirth.

A colt foal closely related to Champion Hurdle winner Katchit realised €32,000. He was a really good model and had plenty of size and scope about him for a first foal. John O’Byrne was the successful buyer, after fending off a determined Tom Taaffe. The grey foal was offered by Stephen Kemble’s Elms Stud on behalf of breeders David and Kathleen Holmes, who purchased the colt’s dam ‘Giving’ at last year’s Newmarket Breeding Sale for £41,000 from Bloomsbury Stud.

Kalanisi has produced a lot of good race mares to date and this obviously hasn’t gone unnoticed by Paul & Amy Murphy of Wychnor Park Stud. They purchased a beautiful filly foal by Kalanisi for €32,000. Out of an un-raced half sister to Kicking King, this filly was offered by her breeder Michael Hickey of Sunnyhill Stud. She was the 3rd highest priced filly foal of the sale and was a really impressive individual. She has been bought to race for the Murphys who have had good success on the track with the likes of Mad Max and Carole’s Legacy.
