Grade 2 Juvenile Hurdle winner for Kalanisi
Simarian (by Kalanisi ex Sinnariya) confirmed his position as the
leading rated juvenile hurdler this year with an impressive win
at Cheltenhams open meeting last Saturday (15 Nov 2008).
In the best juvenile hurdle run to date this season, Simarian ran
out a most impressive winner by bounding up the Cheltenham hill
and leaving 10 previous winners toiling in his wake.
This was Simarians 4th hurdle win and amazingly his first
win was back on Derby day (June 7th) in the first juvenile hurdle
of the season. He has shown enormous improvement in his last two
starts (both at Cheltenham) and the manner in which he has powered
up the hill on both occasions leaves you wondering how much more
improvement has yet to come.
As highlighted in the Racing Post this win was a case of
déjà vu, as the corresponding race two years ago was
won by another son of Kalanisi, who too showed immense improvement
from one run to the next- that horse was Katchit! Is Simarian another
Triumph Hurdle winner in the making?
Trainer Evan Williams said He improves in front of your eyes
every week. His improvement at home has been dramatic to say the
least. If he improves between now and the spring as much as he has
improved between the summer and now, then God knows where hell
Williams purchased Simarian at the Doncaster HIT Sales last January
from HH The Aga Khans Studs for £21,000. He is a keen fan
of Kalanisis offspring and purchased another of his sons at
Doncaster in October. The winning 2 year old Barizan
cost £26,000. Watch out for him next year!
