Group 1 Double at Longchamp for Court Cave!

Court Cave’s full brother Beat Hollow, sired his first Group 1 winner at Longchamp’s Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe meeting on Sunday last. On what was a red letter day for Court Cave’s immediate pedigree, his close relation Oasis Dream also sired a Group 1 winner on the same day.

Beat Hollow’s 2 year old filly ‘Proportional’ was the impressive winner of the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac. Trained by Mme Criquette Head-Maarek, Proportional defeated the previously unbeaten pair of Elusive Wave (Group 3 winner) and Copperbeech. Also in the high class field was the Group1 Moyglare Stakes winner Again, Group 2 winner Please Sing and Group 3 winner African Skies.

Proportional hails from Beat Hollow’s 3rd crop of just 52 two year olds. Also amongst his third crop are the listed placed pair Jazz Police and Beat Seven (who was placed 4th in the Group 1 Fillies Mile at Ascot recently) and the highly impressive maiden winner Taameer. Trained by Marcus Tregoning, Taameer is now being aimed at a Group race before the end of the season and is already being tipped as a potential Epsom Derby horse for next year.

Not to be outdone by his ‘cousin’, Oasis Dream also sired his first Group 1 winner as Naaqoos routed his rivals in the Group1 Prix Jean Luc Lagerdere. Trained by Freddie Head, Naaqoos is now a leading fancy for the English Guineas in 2009.

Court Cave’s first crop are 3 year olds in 2008 and his only runner to date this year is the 2 year old filly Glan Lady who was placed 2nd recently and looks like a future winner.
